That Thatcher letter is terribly interesting. What is its provenance?

It was declassified by the South African government's (the ANC led one) Department of Foreign Affairs in 2005, according to the Margaret Thatcher Foundation website.

Given the intransigence of the Botha administration at that time, sanctions were only ever going to cause them to dig their heels in further (something that the Zulu leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi agreed with: http://www.ifp.org.za/Newsletters/130409wn.htm ). This leaves Thatcher-haters and Apartheid-haters in the uncomfortable position of having to acknowledge that Margaret Thatcher did more to end Apartheid than any other contemporary world leader.

Thank you - the media apocalypse one has made my day. Especially the shipping forecast bit.

I'n sure last year there was a 'bearded lady' interviewed on Woman's Hour who had decided to take part in Movember.
